DIO Independent SFA Stock Condition Survey Intent

Writer's picture: CKS WelfareCKS Welfare

Following the landmark deal to bring Armed Forces housing back into public ownership agreed on 16 December 2024, over the next few months DIO is undertaking an independent Stock Condition Survey of Service Family Accommodation (SFA) across the UK. This will help to provide a detailed assessment of the condition of SFA homes and inform future Government plans with choice about where and how to invest in SFA in the future.

It is important to note that the Stock Condition Survey is not the same as a Combined Accommodation Assessment System (CAAS) survey and the outcome will not impact CAAS charges.  Around 2,500 homes across the UK will be surveyed.

Should your home be selected for inclusion in the programme, you will receive a letter approximately one week before the intended date of the inspection. Letters will be issued from Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL), who are undertaking the surveys for DIO.

The surveys will take a maximum of 1 hour and will include inspecting your home internally and externally and JLL surveyors have been provided with a letter signed by DIO stating who they are and will carry identification for your reassurance.

It is expected that surveys will be completed by the end of April 2025.

While we understand it may be inconvenient for families to plan for someone to be available on a given date, the results from these surveys will help to shape the future of SFA homes for Armed Forces families.

DIO is appreciative of your support and for facilitating access to your home (if you receive notification of a survey) to undertake these important independent surveys.

It is vital that DIO has an accurate baseline of the condition of the estate to inform future investment choices. Please note that this is not an inspection to highlight any immediate repair issues and that these should be reported to Pinnacle in the usual way.
