Welfare Support Updates

The Modernised Accommodation Offer (MAO). The MAO review continues for which the Army has been involved throughout, and more information will be shared as soon as concrete updates are available. A comprehensive communication campaign will precede any planned go-live date.

 

Defence Children Services (DCS). DCS have recently launched their website. This covers a wealth of information about the organisation and schooling in both the UK and overseas. It also covers forms, contacts and latest news.

 

Adoption and Fostering. If your family and considering adopting or fostering a child, we recommend that the serving partner reads the recently-published Defence Instruction & Notice 2024DIN01-120, which sets out the MOD policy provisions to support Service Personnel who would like to adopt or foster in accordance with the relevant guidance and legislation, particularly the Children and Families Act 2014.

 

You Tube Video. If you’ve not heard of the Armed Forces Covenant, or if you’re unsure of what it does, MOD has produced a video which explains the Covenant in brief terms. Learn how the Covenant is set up to help you as an Army family access services from national and local Government and other organisations.

 

 

 

Non-UK Personnel and Families - E-Visas – replacing Biometric Residence Permits (BRPs). If you have not already done so, you can set up your eVisa account. An eVisa is an online record of your immigration permission in the UK, and any conditions which apply. It can be viewed by logging into the online ‘View and prove your immigration status’ service, using your UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) account.

Kooth Service for Children and Young People. The online digital wellbeing service continues to deliver support for children and young people with a Serving parent, Cadets and Junior Soldiers up to their 19th birthday. The ‘slash’ mod portal into Kooth.com/mod is unique and allows children and young people aged 11 – 18 overseas and across the devolved administrations to access the service, as well as those in England. Army HIVE. Army HIVE delivers information support for the whole Service community on a wide variety of topics affecting everyday Service and personal life, including relocation, accommodation, health and wellbeing, education, employment, finance, deployment, resettlement, and the local area. 

 

Over 2024, HIVE’s engagement with colleagues within the MOD and external stakeholders has increased, and HIVE provide information from all of these MOD departments and organisations on a regular basis via their online platforms. Please follow Army HIVE’s social media or sign up for HIVE Blog weekly updates (see below), to stay up to date with all this new and relevant information for the Service community.

Army HIVE Non-UK National Support. Army HIVE has a Non-UK National working group, which acts as a focal point for HIVE’s Non-UK enquiries, and the group members assist both customers and the wider Army HIVE team to deliver support on the additional information requirements and challenges of the Non-UK National Service community.

HIVE support to Reserve Units. The HIVE service is equally available to Reserve units, and to Reservist personnel and their families. HIVEs can support individuals with any information or welfare signposting that they may need, and provides deployment support to units.
